Flora Reinhold (Aroma in the Japanese version) is the daughter of Baron Augustus Reinhold from Professor Layton and the Curious Village as well as the heiress of the family fortune and St Mystere. She joins Professor Layton and Luke for the rest of the series following the first game and is in every Layton media with the possble exception of Professor Layton and the Diabolical Boxory==

Flora was quite young when her mother, Violet passed away. Her father, Baron Reinhold, died a few years later, as learned in Professor Layton and the Curious Village.

Bruno, the creator of all the inhabitants of St. Mystere, built a robotic mirror image of her mother, named Lady Dahlia. Flora was very frightened of it and tried to run away upon first meeting it; the robot's personality was wiped and a new one was created, which Flora found more comfortable. The young girl spent most of her time playing alone by her mother's grave, so to cheer her up, her father arranged to have an amusement park built just for her. When the Baron realized he was terminally ill, he had Bruno construct the village and villagers of St. Mystere. The robots would care for and protect Flora until someone came who was both wise enough to solve all of the puzzles and kind enough to make Flora smile again. The news of his death was withheld for years (not two months, as the Professor and Luke initially believed) so that Flora would be "out of childhood" when the mystery was solved. Professor Layton cracked the riddle of the Golden Apple, and unofficially adopted Flora as his own daughter.

Personality

Flora is a sweet, curious individual. Unfortunately, this sometimes leads her into trouble, such as her kidnapping by Don Paolo in Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box. Because she spent so many years in a village populated entirely by robots, she has difficulty relating to new people, and will often either hide from them or overshare details (as shown in Professor Layton and the Unwound Future).

She is devotedly fond of both Layton and Luke, and gets very upset when they go away on investigations and leave her behind. It's implied in both "Diabolical Box" and "Unwound Future" that she has a fear of being alone, and "Unwound Future" in particular gives the impression that she has separation anxiety when she's away from Layton for too long. This is understandable, as he is the only parent she has, and when he goes away without her she worries that he might not come back. Her relationship with Luke is mostly good-natured; they have a great time together at the fair in Dropstone during "Diabolical Box," and he is very upset on both occasions when she gets kidnapped. The scenes in which they rescue her in "Unwound Future" make it very clear that they love her as much as she loves them.

Profile

The only daughter of a vastly wealthy family, Flora is the mysterious girl who has been running around the village. She lost her mother, Violet, as a small child and was raised by her father, Baron Augustus Reinhold. After his wife's death, the Baron hired Bruno to build several things to keep Flora happy, such as an amusement park, a robotic replica of her mother, and the whole village of St. Mystere. Unfortunately, the plan backfired, and Flora felt sadder than before. Finally, the Baron kept Flora up in the village tower, gave her the alias "The Golden Apple", and set up a gigantic riddle to find the rightful inheritor of Flora.

ora rigged up a disguise (a hood and glasses) so she could slink around without being noticed. Just about everyone that knows her can see through the disguise with a glance, but she's convinced that she is incognito. She uses the disguise in both Professor Layton 1 and 2, though she wears sunglasses instead of glasses in 2.

Professor Layton 2

In Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, she travels with the Professor and Luke on the Molentary Express until they reach the first top, Dropstone, where she is kidnapped and impersonated by Don Paolo.

  • When Flora hugs Layton at the end of the first game, an apple-shaped birthmark appears just below her neck. This identifies her as the Golden Apple.
