The Professor is ready to solve puzzles
Professor Hershel Layton is one of the two main characters of the Professor Layton series. He is an Englishman who lives in London and is probably around 30 years old. He travels the world with his assistant Luke and begins bringing with them Flora at the end of their adventure in St Mystere until the events of Professor Layton 3.

Personality
Layton is a kind and considerate typical gentleman. He is incredibly brave and more so intelligent. When having solved a puzzle incorrectly, Layton becomes embarassed. His pride joy is the Laytonmobile, which is his car. Layton also believes that "a womans needs should come before your own." It's because of these reasons and a supposedly old rivalry that he clashes constantly with Don Paolo.
In Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, Layton also shows a talent for swordfighting.
Appearance
Layton's most remarkable feature is a brown top hat with a red brim.
